जून २००७ में दार्शनिक रामचंद्र गाँधी नहीं रहे. उनका स्मरण करती हुई तेजी ग्रोवर की कवितायेँ और उनकी अनूठी पुस्तक सीता’ज किचन के पूर्वकथन से एक अंश जिसमें उनके बचपन के दुस्स्वप्न के अख़बारों में लिपटे हुए बम एक साथ कई चीज़ों का रूपक बन जाते हैं.

Presented here are Teji Grover’s poems dedicated to his memory and excerpts from the Preface to his extraordinary book Sita’s Kitchen in which the newspaper-wrapped bombs of his childhood nightmares turn into metaphors of multiple significations.

44 year old Hasso Krull is a phenomenon in Estonia, with his vast work as poet, thinker, teacher and organizer. He has explored new possibilities in the juxtaposition of poetry and photography, poetry and jazz. We present here some poems by Hasso Krull and the very young Carolina Pihelgas in the original Estonian and in English translation.

As part of our regular feature on Indian Documentary, curated by Sridala Swami, we present a piece by film editor Jabeen Merchant and an introductory comment by Sridala. Jabeen has worked with two documentary-makers featured previously in this space – Paromita Vohra and Surabhi Sharma. She has also edited, among other movies, the sleeper-hit Manorama: Six Feet Under.

इसी खंड में हैं नंदकिशोर आचार्य और रुस्तम (सिंह) की कवितायेँ – दोनों के रचनाकर्म से प्रतिलिपि के पाठक परिचित हैं – और गुजराती कथाकार प्रवीणसिंह चावडा की गुजराती कहानी मीरा देसाई के अंग्रेजी अनुवाद में.

Apart from the theme of terror, we take great pleasure in presenting the work of some very talented young writers – poems by Christian Ward, Shirish Kumar Mourya and Samartha Vashishta; a short story by Geet Chaturvedi; Annie Zaidi’s interview with Rana Dasgupta about his new novel Solo. Minakshi Thakur’s Hindi poems are being published for the very first time, in Pratilipi.

We also have poetry by Nand Kishore Acharya and Rustam (Singh) – both familiar names for Pratilipi readers – and a story by Gujarati writer Pravinsinh Chavda, in English translation by Mira Desai.
