The Story of an Editorial Misadventure.

लगभग तीन दशक पहले लिखी एक कविता, जिसका शीर्षक सिर्फ़ किसी संयोग से तिब्बत नहीं है, के लिखने की प्रक्रियाओं और प्रेरणाओं को, उसके ‘काव्यशास्त्र’ को स्मृति में उपलब्ध करने के एक कवि के प्रयत्न में निर्मित होते इस पाठ में ज्यादातर सपाट राजनीतिक पढ़त से घिरी हुई एक कविता, जिसका ‘नाम’ याद रहे तिब्बत है, अपने ही उद्गम में खुलती है, अपना एक ऐसा वैकल्पिक पठन प्रस्तावित करती हुई कि आप कविता को ‘किमियागिरी’ मान सकते हैं, राजनीति भी और सभ्यता-विमर्श भी.

In this text, that takes shape in a poet’s efforts to locate in memory the ‘poetics’, the intricacies and inspirations of a poem written decades ago – one which is not titled Tibet by mere chance. The poem, mostly surrounded by flat political readings, opens up in its own genesis and offers an alternative reading which sets you free to take it as you wish – alchemy, politics or a discourse on civilization.

Featuring Ann Jäderlund’s poems, which have reshaped and enriched contemporary Swedish poetry, this section has – twelve of her poems in the original Swedish and in Teji Grover’s Hindi translations, Staffan Söderblom’s introductory notes on her poetry and Teji Grover’s intimate English prose on her experience of writing Jäderlund in Hindi.

आन येदरलुण्ड की कविता ने समकालीन स्वीडिश कविता को अपने काव्य-उद्यम से जिस कदर प्रतिकृत और समृद्ध किया है, उसको लक्ष्य करते हुए इस खंड में है आन की आठ कवितायें मूल स्वीडिश और तेजी ग्रोवर के हिन्दी अनुवादों में; आन की कविता पर स्ताफान स्ताफान स्यदरब्लुम की परिचयात्मक टिप्पणी मूल अंग्रेज़ी और हिन्दी में, और उनकी कविताओं के हिन्दी अनुवाद की प्रक्रिया पर तेजी ग्रोवर का अंग्रेज़ी गद्य.

Wagish Shukla has been writing a novel, Atha Yajnyavalkyopakhyaan, for some years now; some of its extracts have appeared in Hindi magazines and journals. We are happy to publish excerpts from Vishesh: Ek Tilismi Upakhyaan, written recently and intended to be a part of the novel.

वागीश शुक्ल पिछले कई वर्षों से एक उपन्यास लिख रहे हैं, अथः याज्ञवल्क्योपाख्यान, जिसके कुछ अंश हिन्दी पत्रिकाओं में छप चुके हैं. हमें खुशी है कि इस सिलसिले में हाल ही में लिखे गए इस उपाख्यान का एक अंश हम यहाँ प्रकाशित कर कर रहे हैं.

पिछले अंक में सुधीर चंद्र ने अपने आलेख में १८५७ के बौद्धिक उत्तरजीवन को विषय बनाया था; इस बार हिन्दी कवि और समाज विज्ञानी बद्री नारायण इसी क्रांति में दलित जातियों के योगदान के विषय में मुख्यधारा और दलित इतिहासकारों के महावृतान्तों के समकक्ष दलित लोक स्मृति में बसे आख्यानों और मिथकों की पड़ताल करते हुए न सिर्फ़ मुख्यधारा वृतान्तों में गौण इतिहास के विलोपन का एक और किस्सा बयान करते हैं, बल्कि इतिहास को समायोजित करने वाली समकालीन प्रेरणाओं की और भी इशारा करते है.

Like Sudhir Chandra in the previous issue, Hindi poet and social scientist Badri Narayan also returns to 1857, but to write about the role of dalit caste groups in the revolt. By reading together the narratives and myths in Dalit oral memory with the versions of mainstream and Dalit historians, Badri Narayan’s text not only tells another tale of a piece of subaltern history effaced in the mainstream narratives but also makes a hint at the contemporary interests that inspire readjusting of history.
